Reflections: 200 Episodes of the InnovaBuzz Podcast
In this episode, I want to share with you some reflections as I look back on 200 episodes of the InnovaBuzz Podcast.
Some of the highlights for me were:
- Our wonderful guests who have provided great value to me and to you, our listener.
- I am grateful for all our guests and of course to our listeners for spending time with me each week. I am also grateful to our support team who do so much work behind the scenes to put together a great show.
- It’s a great privilege to tap into so many experts in their field and share their knowledge and insights with you.

Innovation is key. As a business, you always need to be aware of what is happening in your field and in other fields. Always be ready to innovate. @Innovabiz on #InnovaBuzz podcast Click To TweetShow Notes from this episode Reflections on 200 Episode of This Podcast
Key points and take-aways from this episode include:
- I started the podcast in August of 2014 as part of my marketing strategy to build my network and build connections. And certainly, it has provided that for me. I have developed relationships with many new people and wonderful guests. More so, I’m able to share their stories and insights with you.
- Innovation is key. As a business, you always need to be aware of what is happening in your field and in other fields. Always be ready to innovate and respond to the innovations that are coming into the marketplace from other people but also be prepared to make your own product or service be redundant by innovating and iterating the next evolution of those products or services.
- A podcast is a great marketing strategy.
- Having a guest on a podcast is like having a masterclass from an expert in their field.
- I want to be able to present information that perhaps hasn’t been presented before or in a different way from my guests. I like to understand their strategies in a way that we all might be able to apply to our own businesses.
- One of the things I want to do in every interview is to make sure that my guest is at ease, feels comfortable, and can show up for the audience at their best.
- Neal Sperling on episode 200 provided feedback that it was indeed what I did for him. He really appreciated my preparation for the interview, the skillful questions I had asked, and the thoughtful incisive manner in which I was able to drill down and get to the subtle truth that he was able to pinpoint. Thanks Neal! See Neal’s testimonial below.
- We all learn the fastest by modeling somebody else.
- There are quite a lot of moving pieces that go into producing a podcast. When running a podcast as involved as InnovaBuzz, it’s really important that you have some help.
How about you? What are some of your favourite takeaways from the InnovaBuzz Podcast? I’d love to get your feedback and any suggestions. Feel free to leave a comment below this blog post.
The Buzz – Our Innovation Round
Here are some of the themes that I liked from our innovation round. Listen to the interview to get the full scoop.
- #1 thing to be more innovative
- Reading and reflection.
- Allow yourself to daydream because it clears your mind and allows ideas and thoughts to bubble up from the unconscious that might form the basis of innovative ideas.
- Journaling. Taking the time to actually sit down and write your thoughts, and explore those in some more detail, which is really a good way of self-reflection as well.
- Best thing for new ideas – Look at industries outside your own – how they do things, what they do, understanding their strategies, and seeing what can be applied to your industry. It is looking outside the box but in a very practical way.
- Favourite tool for innovation – The internet, pen and paper, and a whiteboard.
- Keep a project/client on track – Setting expectations and good communication. Pick your clients well. To me, that means work with your ideal clients because it is your ideal client that will allow you to set expectations that are mutually beneficial.
- Differentiate – Be yourself. You see the world differently than anybody else and you can create value in a different way than anybody else. Understanding what drives you and knowing what makes you unique and what your true purpose is, is the key to unlocking being really differentiated.
Some of the guests I would like to have on the podcast
- Seth Godin
- Elon Musk
- Sir Richard Branson
- Unsung heroes – people who are doing amazing things but may not be as famous as the above 3.

Jürgen Strauss is an absolute delight. From the very start of the interview he conducted with me his soft-spoken manner and quiet, disarming demeanour immediately put me at ease in a way that allowed me to show up for his audience at my best. His diligent preparation for our interview, skilful questions asked, and the thoughtful, incisive manner in which he was able to drill down and ferret out the subtle truths he subsequently pinpointed and managed to extract from each of my answers clearly informs his ability to stand head and shoulders above his competitors in the highly competitive podcasting space. One would think the preceding should be amply sufficient to make knowledgeable experts and guests to be eager to come on his show, but the above only begins to scratch the surface. To put it in its simplest form, Jürgen is that rare class act and consummate professional that one rarely sees in evidence anymore… one who truly cares about his subject, his guests, his audience, and wants to ensure that all combined will benefit from each of his information gathering session to their fullest extent. And those are only a few of the qualities that make him truly special.
