Our guest in this episode is Kevin Kelly. Kevin helped launch and edit Wired magazine, has written for the NY Times and Wall Street Journal and his latest book is “Excellent Advice for Living”. Kevin was also our guest on Episode 83 of the Innova.Buzz Podcast. He’s admired for his acute perspectives on technology and its relevance to history, biology and society.
When Kevin and I spoke, we talked about how life is a constantly shifting landscape that presents opportunities for growth and new experiences. We’re entering into the most powerful technology to day, and it will be powerfully used and powerfully abused or misused.
- Advice for 20 year olds: Work on something without a name that has no competition and room for breakthroughs. Do something crazy, stupid, memorable, and looks nothing like success at that time, just for the experience and as a touchstone for future success.
- Be the star in your own movie rather than an extra in someone else’s movie.
- Find a way to express your unique genius. Follow what you’re good at, what you can get paid to do, enjoy doing, and what others find difficult and you find easy. That thing that made you weird as a kid can make you great as an adult as long as you don’t lose it.
